Supporting Pharmacy teams to support patients
For many patients seeking healthcare advice and support, pharmacy is the preferred first choice. This means pharmacy teams are the first line of contact for promoting self-care in their communities.
Self-care advice sheets and Reg Flag guidance
To support pharmacy teams in this important work, the NPA and Teva have partnered to develop a new series of factsheets.
Each easy-to-use sheet provides information and self-care advice for a range of minor ailments and common conditions.
They also highlight the symptoms that should prompt further investigation or red flag referral.

More than a factsheet
These advice sheets pack a punch, they support multiple aspects of care delivery:
- They can be used as a training aid for pharmacy teams
- They help teams understand the best treatment option available
- The factsheet can facilitate consultations with patients
- They advise when to refer to a pharmacist or other healthcare professional
- They boost your confidence to advance a ‘pharmacy first’ approach to patient care
- Ultimately, they will support you to deliver the NHS Pharmacy First Service
